In response to club member requests, we are introducing a new and varied schedule of Club events.   Please return frequently to this website to find the latest news regarding events.  Or, better yet, ask to be on our email list and receive up-to-date notices in your inbox.   Click on the Calendar menu item on the left side of the webpage to view events by the month or click on the link below for more info. 


Tues, May 13  – Due to popular demand, we will reprise last month’s get-together at  Freddie’s Beach Bar in the Crystal City area of Arlington.  No formal presentation is planned.  If you choose, stay and have dinner with other members.     

It will start at 6 pm.  Freddie’s Beach Bar is located at 555 S. 23rd St. in Arlington’s Crystal City area.  The closest Metro Station is the Crystal City stop.  Street parking is available.  

May

May 17 (Saturday) - 8th Congressional District Convention.  If you have registered and have paid your fees, remember that the 8th District Convention will be held at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 125 Glebe Road, Arlington. Registration is from 8-10 am and the convention starts at 10 am.  To be elected are the District Republican Chairman for 2008-10; 3 members to the Republican State Central Committee for 2008-12; 3 Delegates and 3 Alternate Delegates to the Republican National Convention; 1 Presidential Elector to serve on the Electoral College.

May 31 (Saturday)
- State Convention of the Republican Party of Virginia.   If you are registered and have paid your fees, remember that the convention will be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.   To be selected at the convention are 27 Delegates and 27 Alternates to the 2008 Republican National Committee (RNC); 2 Electors At Large to serve on the 2008 Electoral College; the Republican State Party Chairman; an RNC National Committeeman and National Committeewoman; and the Republican Candidate for the U.S. Senate in the November general election.

POSTPONED! 
The 7th Annual LCR-VA PAC reception and fundraiser.  The speaker and date are still to be announced.  A PAC contribution, with the check make out to LCR-VA PAC, is required at either the $35, $100, $250, or $500 level.  The reception will be from 6:30 until 9 pm at historic Gadsby’s Tavern, which is located at 138 N. Royal Street in “Old Town” Alexandria. 

June
June 8 (Sunday)DC Pride Day Parade and other events.  Volunteer to help staff the Log Cabin information booth at the DC Pride Day Festival (the booth will be a joint activity with the DC chapter and LCR National, though the Virginia chapter will take the lead by reserving the site and securing the equipment and services needed).  

June 14 (Saturday) - Primary Voting (to select the Republican Candidate in Virginia Congressional Districts in which there are more than one Republican Candidate).
June 18 (Wednesday)—DC LCR Chapter social at Nellies Sports Bar, 900 U Street N.W. (corner of U and 9th Streets).  6:00 to 8 PM.  Join Log Cabin members from across the river to discuss election year politics.

June 28 – Join a house party with others from the region at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Confirmation, location, and other information is TBD. 



July
July 13 (Sunday)
- In lieu of the usual monthly meeting, we will gather on Sunday, July 13, for our annual summer picnic.  For a
low suggested donation of $10, eat from the grill and help empty a keg of beer.    
The picnic will be held from 1 to 4 at the home of Daniel Gri and James Abbott, which is located on 10329 Hickory Forest Drive in Fairfax, just off Hunter Mill Road.  There is a pool, so bring your swimming attire if so inclined.   

August
MONTHLY MEETING: NONE – (Past experience with summer vacation schedules indicates that most people are away.)

August 20 (Wednesday)—DC LCR Chapter social at Nellies Sports Bar,
900 U Street N.W. (corner of U and 9th Streets).  6 to 8 PM.  Join Log Cabin members from across the river to discuss election year politics.
September
MONTHLY MEETING: September 9 (Tuesday) - Social hour starts at 6 as we watch the opening of the Republican Convention on multiple screens at the Rhodeside Grill (corner of Wilson Blvd. and Rhodes in Arlington – about 3 blocks from the Courthouse Metro Station).


September 9 thru 14 (Tuesday thru Sunday) – Watch the Republican National Convention.

October
MONTHLY MEETING: October 14 (Tuesday) - The monthly meeting will consist of a social at Freddie’s Beach Bar in the Crystal City area of Arlington.  Come early to get happy hour prices.  No formal presentation is planned.  If you choose, stay and have dinner with other members.  This has been planned as a joint social with the DC chapter.  Meet like-minded counterparts from across the river.

November
November 4 (Tuesday)
-General Election (President, Senate, and Congress)

MONTHLY MEETING: November 11 (Tuesday)
- Social hour from 6 to 7; very short chapter meeting with a report by club officers, and then hear a presentation from Amy Walter on the probable implications of the election outcome.  This will be a repeat of the excellent and insightful presentation that Amy made to the club after the last presidential election.  In addition, this is a chance to ask questions and get answers from a real pro.

December
December 9 (Tuesday).  In lieu of any formal monthly meeting, we will have our annual holiday party.  It is tentatively planned to be held in a members home in the Clarendon area of Arlington.  If you can bring a dish to share and want to coordinate that with the Social Chairman, contact Daniel Gri at (703) 281-1571.
January (2009)

MONTHLY MEETING:  Tuesday, January 13 - Social hour from 6 to 7; short formal session to elect officers for 2009, with dinner afterwards if you choose to stay.  The venue will again be the Rhodeside Grill (corner of Wilson Boulevard and Rhodes Avenue in Arlington – about 3 blocks from the Courthouse Metro Station).
