Nine years old, and growing!
In just a few short years, the Log Cabin Republicans of Virginia have become a fast-growing political forum, action team and meeting place for gay and lesbian Republicans throughout the state.
Working with local Republican committees, candidates, and gay/lesbian organizations, LCR-Virginia is helping to open new avenues of poltiical communication and support, and generating increased public awareness of our participation in the political process. Our volunteer efforts and fund-raising have contributed to GOP campaigns and election successes in Northern Virginia, with more to follow as the club expands to other regions.
We're on the move in Northern Virginia. Our flagship club started in 1997, and now has more than 70 members, with regular meetings in Arlington, social activities, political and fund-raising events. We're a growing force in northern Virginia politics, raising the visibility of gay and lesbian Republicans within the Party, and within the gay community.
- Central Virginia. We're laying the groundwork for a new chapter serving Richmond, Charlottesville, Williamsburg and other mid-state communities. LCR-Virginia has participated in Richmond Pride festivals, and will continue to develop a network of gay & lesbian GOP activists. Sign up today!
- Southeast Virginia. A third Log Cabin club is planned for the Hampton Roads area. For now, gay and lesbian Republicans in the area are invited to join our "virtual chapter" in the Tidewater. Sign up for regular email updates!
Western Virginia. Another "virtual chapter" is forming online, linking gay and lesbian Republicans throughout the scenic Shenandoah Valley and southwest Virginia. Sign up for email in our western brigade.
Join us! Wherever you are in Virginia, we invite you to join with us, to help build a stronger, more inclusive GOP. Sign up for email, or become a full-fledged member. (Yes, you can pay online.) Looking ahead, we aim to: -- attract new members across the state; -- launch new chapters and build online networks; -- build alliances with other gay & lesbian organizations; -- participate in local and state party activities; and -- identify and support deserving GOP candidates in upcoming elections.

Quotable Quotes |
Richmond Times-Dispatch Friday, February 17, 2006 Barry Goldwater, speaking in 1981: "I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that, if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in A, B, C, or D . . . .I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate." |
